Country house in Asturias
A really great country property, the perfect home for someone who loves living in nature and wants to restore a traditional old stone house. This century old, rustic property is solidly built on two floors with the main accommodation being on the first floor and various storerooms and stables on the ground floor. The ground floor offers a great opportunity to double the overall living space of the property. Alternatively there's space to create several rural apartments for tourism or a retreat style business. There are currently some great incentives and grants available from the local government towards rural tourism, which includes up to 35% discounts on the purchase and renovation costs.
The horreo in the garden is a nice addition to the property and could also be converted into a bedroom or chill out space. Unfortunately the access to the horreo from the first floor of the house is not currently in a passable state, so there are no photos of the interior. The roof of the property is mostly in good condition with repairs having been carried out in 2008, however part of the roof that covers the patio area still needs to be restored. There's a loft space beneath the roof which is accessed from the kitchen and offers useful storage space.
The property is located within a small and quiet aldea outside La Espina. However the other houses are some distance away, not too close, which means the property is surrounded by fields and amazing views. There's a large garden which runs in front of and behind the house and offers a wonderful play area for children or pets as well as plenty of space to grow vegetables or even to add a small swimming pool. In addition, there's a large plot of land which is currently used for keeping livestock.
The water is supplied by a natural spring which is shared with one of the neighbours and runs continually all year round, however if required, there is mains water available as well. The property is also connected to mains electricity and the waste goes into a septic tank, situated on the land.
The nearest town is only 2km away, which is a lovely 30 minute walk or a very easy 2 min drive. There are various shops and facilities in the town including bars, restaurants, a very good builder's merchant, schools, pharmacy etc. Oviedo is 54km via the motorway which is very easy to access from the property. In the other direction, the nearest beach, Playa de Cueva, is only 36km away. It would be a real shame to see this house remaining empty, it's a beautiful property and would make a fantastic country home once restored to it's former glory.
