This would be a great 'lock up and leave' holiday property but also good for full-time living too. It is located on a nice flat street, with plenty of street parking available, in the historic town of Alcaudete in the Jaen province of Andalucia. It is in need of some updating and modernisation but once completed, would be a great home for enjoying the best this town has to offer. There is room to add a plunge pool or hot tub on the patio and you can walk to local shops and bars.
You enter through traditional wooden doors into a bright lounge area. There is a smaller room to the left which could be a study, dining room, bedroom, or taken down to increase the living space. Stairs on right lead upstairs. Straight on takes you into a nice sized kitchen with open fireplace and built in storage. Behind the kitchen is a utility area with storage and the bathroom with shower. At the rear of the property is a nice sized, sunny walled patio, with plenty of room for a plunge pool or raised beds, pots etc to grow your own vegetables, fruit and flowers.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. The middle room at the top of the stairs could easily be changed into a bathroom and a partition corridor added for privacy. The rear double bedroom is a good size as is the front double bedroom that has doors leading onto a Juliet balcony with views of the castle.
The electrics will need some updating but with a little bit of tlc, this would make the perfect house for holidays, full time living or renting out.
The town of Alcaudete is located at the foot of the Sierra Ahillos, in the south-west corner of Jaén province, in the Sierra Sur region. Its geographical location means that it is just half an hour from Jaén, less than one hour from Granada and Cordoba and Málaga and Seville can be reached in around one hour 45. You'll find history in every corner. The town forms a ring round the hillside, embracing its two most distinctive buildings, the Church of Santa María la Mayor and the Calatravo Castle. There are views over rich olive groves, market gardens and on to the countryside and mountains beyond. The town centre is of medieval origin and has an important architectural heritage since the town underwent great expansion between the 16th and 18th centuries. This saw the construction of many civil and religious buildings of different styles, which decorate and adorn the streets of the old town. The municipality is also home to the nature reserves of La Laguna Honda and La Laguna de Chinche, a beautiful area of great ecological interest because of the birds that live there including flamingos, mallards and purple swamp hens. There are several fiestas held throughout the year and the town has full amenities including supermarkets, bars, bakeries, sports facilities and a hospital.
