The town, with a population of 2000, with nice and friendly people who are always ready to help. The town is surrounded by beautiful landscapes where vineyards and almond orchards are cultivated. La Romana has 2 small supermarkets (one English), 3 bakeries and 3 butchers, 6 bars, a fish and chip shop and a pizza restaurant. In addition there is a community pool that opens during the summer, ideal to enjoy with your family and friends on the hottest days. On Saturday mornings there is a street market where you can buy fresh vegetables, clothes and other items. The town has its own pharmacy, surgery and doctor, and in the nearby town of Novelda there is a 24-hour medical clinic. The main hospital of the region is in Elda just 20 minutes away.Among its places of interest we find the Parque de la Noria, or its laundry room from the 19th century. You can also do the Romana-Peña la Mina-Algayat trail.In September, the "Paella in the Park" party is held in which a giant paella pan is installed outside and the locals participate with music, fireworks, and street parties. In August, La Romana celebrates the spectacular Moors and Christians festival with incredible parades and costumes.The Gachamiga or Gazpacho Manchego are some of its most typical dishes.In the mountains of the Medio Vinalopó area we find an important variety of trees, bushes and animal species.Regarding the flora of the area, we highlight the pine, holm oaks in areas of difficult access and carob. Among the scrub we find a large number of species such as thyme, rosemary, lavender, esparto ... In contrast to this, in the plain we find olive, almond and vineyards.
